High-grown Bourbon and Typica coffees from Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz are washed before being decaffeinated in Córdoba, Veracruz using the Mountain Water Process®. Roasted for balance and versatility, expect a smooth, sweet profile with notes of hazelnut and nougat.

We don’t believe solvents or chemical processing have a place in our food. Many decaffeination methods rely on industrial compounds to remove caffeine quickly, treating coffee as a raw material rather than a food. We reject that approach.

Sourced from the high-growing regions of Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz, Mexico, and decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process®, Orizaba brings together Certified Organic coffee and gentle water-based decaffeination in our pursuit of the absolute best Organic Decaf coffee in Australia.

The Mountain Water Process®

Orizaba takes its name from Pico de Orizaba, Mexico's highest mountain and the source of the pure water used in the Mountain Water Process®.

The green coffee is gently steamed before being immersed in water saturated with the soluble compounds naturally found in coffee. Through osmosis, caffeine is drawn out while the compounds responsible for flavour and aroma remain in balance.

Once decaffeinated, the coffee is carefully dried, analysed and cupped to ensure its quality and character have been preserved.

The result is coffee without the caffeine, but with the sweetness, structure and character we selected it for in the first place.
